Rep. Charlie Bass’ shapeshifting transformation
Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Andrew Grossman points to New Hampshire Congressman Charlie Bass as one of the GOP House members who could be “stranded on shore” by the changing political currents — and of his shapeshifting transformation to try and avoid it.
To win back his seat in 2010, Mr. Bass tried to convince conservatives that he shared their concerns about the national debt. He courted tea-party activists, saying they had an agenda “exactly the same” as his. This year, Mr. Bass is trying to convince some voters that he could work with the White House even if Mr. Obama is re-elected.
