Burns: Planned Parenthood abortions ‘fundraising tool’

Republican Executive Council candidate Bob Burns says Planned Parenthood provides abortion services because “it’s a huge fundraising tool for them.”

In an interview with Kathy Benuck on Bedford Community Television, Burns defended the Council’s rejection of a contract with Planned Parenthood to provide health services for 16,000 Granite State residents.

“Taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for something that they morally disagree with,” he said. ”If Planned Parenthood truly was just all about women’s health, then they would focus just on women’s health,” Burns added.

Abortions, which make up just three percent of Planned Parenthood’s services, are covered by health insurance or patient payment. Planned Parenthood receives no federal or state taxpayer funding for abortion services.

Burns is the Republican candidate for the Executive Council in District 4. His opponent, Democrat Chris Pappas, has been endorsed by Planned Parenthood.
