Protest fizzles as Giffords calls on N.H. lawmakers to have the courage to do what’s right

Former congresswoman Gabby Giffords and husband Mark Kelly brought their call for tightened gun safety legislation to the Granite State yesterday.

During a press conference with law enforcement officials at the Millyard Museum in Manchester, the couple called on New Hampshire political leaders to have “the courage to do what’s right" and pass expanded background checks for gun purchases.

"We must never stop fighting," Giffords told the group. "Be bold. Be courageous. The nation is counting on you."

Pro-gun advocates had called on supporters to turn out en masse with “as many guns as NH state law will allow” but the Concord Monitor reported only five protesters were present.

One of the them, Dennis Hamel, told WMUR, “Becoming a victim doesn’t make you an authority. Becoming a victim doesn’t make you a hero.” Presumably he’s the same Dennis Hamel who explained his objections in an online comment:

RESPONSIBLE gun owners are not shooting the innocent, and all a gun registry does is allow the Marxists to know where they are in preparation for confiscation.

This is ALREADY happening in California and New York, and has been the model for ALL statist tyrants including Stalin, Hitler, Mao etc etc

And B. Hussein Obama is clearly a statist tyrant wanna-be.

Go home Giffords.

Perhaps it was too hot for the would-be protesters. AP reporter Steve Peoples snapped this photo of a protester napping outside the event:
